The Thinking That Stills Thinking: A Half-Day Online Retreat with Bodhipaksa

The Thinking That Stills Thinking:
Half-Day Online Retreat with Bodhipaksa

Saturday, April 13
9:30 am – 12:00 pm (Eastern)

Often our deepest meditations are guided ones. It helps to have someone on hand to interrupt our mind-wandering and to bring us back gently into the present moment, over and over. A skilled guide can also introduce us to new meditation skills and remind us to tap into skills we’d forgotten we knew.

Experiences of meditating on our own might sometimes seem foggy and meandering in comparison. One thing that can make an enormous difference to our meditation practice is to learn to be our own sources of guidance.

In recent years I’ve encouraged my meditation students to use self-talk to lead themselves toward calmness, clarity, and love. That’s what we’ll be exploring on this half-day workshop.

As meditation practitioners we’ll learn to be both teacher and student simultaneously. We’ll learn how to be a wise and kind spiritual friend to ourselves — so that we’re present, responsive, kind, and helpful toward ourselves as we go through the process of settling more deeply into our own experience.

And we’ll learn to be receptive to what’s most wholesome within us, allowing it in, trusting it, and allowing ourselves to be guided by our own inner wisdom.

Retreat format: Short talks, guided meditations, and some self-guided (unguided) meditations.
