In this half-day retreat, we’ll explore what “true love” really means from both Buddhist and psychological perspectives. Drawing on the Four Brahmavihāras—the Divine Abodes of loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity—along with research from attachment theory, we’ll examine how love can become a steady refuge rather than something fragile or fleeting.
We’ll begin by developing the capacity to recognize and receive the love and care already present in our lives. From there, we’ll practice strengthening our ability to extend and express love—toward ourselves, those dear to us, and the more difficult people in our lives.
The retreat will include guided meditation, short teachings, and reflective exercises.
Jessica Morey began meditating in the 90’s as a teenager on retreats at the Insight Meditation Society and graduated from the IMS teacher training program in 2021. Jess brings a sense of playfulness and care to her teaching, with a focus on applying practical meditation insights into our relationships and everyday life. She integrates psychological study and contemplative research, making her teaching both accessible and practical. You can learn more about her teaching and work at jessicamorey.org.
The registration fee supports Vermont Insight. In addition, it is customary to make a donation to the teacher in appreciation for the teachings. AND: We continue to offer the teachings freely to all who would benefit. Your practice is a gift to us all. When you register, please select from the fee levels listed, including fee waiver if that is appropriate.
Teacher Dana: The teachings of the Buddha have been offered freely for 2600 years. In keeping with the Buddhist tradition, our teachers offer their time and guidance as a gift.
